Constrained Static/Dynamic Economic Emission Load Dispatch Using Elephant Herd Optimization

The rapid growth in greenhouse gases (GHGs), the lack of electricity production, and an ever-increasing demand for electrical energy requires optimal reduction coal-fired thermal generating units (CFTGU) with aim minimizing fuel costs emissions. Previous approaches have been unable to deal such problems due non-convexity realistic scenarios confined optimum convergence. Instead, meta-heuristic techniques gained more attention order constrained static/dynamic economic emission load dispatch (ELD/DEELD) problems, their flexibility derivative-free structures. Hence, this work, elephant herd optimization (EHO) technique is proposed solve non-convex static dynamic ELD power system. EHO algorithm a nature-inspired that utilizes new separation method elitism strategy retain diversity population ensure fittest individuals are retained next generation. current approach can be implemented minimize both cost functions CFTGUs subject balance constraints, active generation limits, ramp rate limits Three test systems involving 6, 10, 40 were utilized demonstrate effectiveness practical feasibility algorithm. Numerical results indicate exhibits better performance most cases as compared recent existing algorithms when applied issue, demonstrating its superiority practicability.
